Build Manager Skills

A Manager Skill packages instructions and a working script so the Workspace Manager can discover and repeat a task. Build and test the task first, then ask the Manager to save it for reuse.

Create a Skill

  1. Open Manager AI and describe the task, including its inputs and the result you expect.
  2. Run the task with synthetic data or a read-only test. Review the result before turning it into a reusable procedure.
  3. Ask the Manager to save the working task as a Skill. Give it a specific name and describe when you want to use it.
  4. Choose Shared with this workspace or Just for me when the Manager asks who it is for.
  5. Review the saved Skill in Files. The Skill contains a SKILL.md description and any supporting scripts in its scripts folder.
  6. In a Manager Chat, ask the Manager to load the Skill by name and run it with your chosen inputs. Check the result again before using it for a consequential task.

For example, after testing a read-only report, ask: “Save this report as a Skill named weekly-workspace-report, so I can ask for it again with a date range.”

Choose Who Can Use It

Just for me saves the Skill in your private files. Its scripts run in your own Manager Chats.

Shared with this workspace saves it in the workspace's files. Members need the relevant file access to use it. Existing folders keep their access settings: if the Manager reports that a folder is private, its owner or a workspace administrator must review sharing in Files. Saving a Skill does not authorize changing that folder's access.

Updating an existing Skill keeps its location. Ask the Manager to update its instructions or script when the procedure changes, then test the updated task.

Find a Skill

The Skills picker before the first Manager message lists the built-in Skills. To use a custom Skill you saved, ask the Manager to find or load it by name. In an existing Chat, the Skills menu shows the skills state for that Chat.

A saved Skill does not grant extra permissions. Keep its actions within the access and authority of the Member using it.
