What GET /installations/\{uuid}/upgrade-preview?to=N answers.
Every field is derived from the two versions' stored items and the
installation's own boundSlotKeys — nothing here is a prediction about
what the upgrade will do to workspace rows.
newSlots is the exact set the dialog must offer pickers for: the target
version's slots this installation has no binding for. That is wider
than "slots the target version added" on purpose — a slot left unfilled at
install is still unbound when previewed. Required slots must be supplied
for the upgrade to succeed; optional slots may remain open.
