Toolkits and MCP Connections

Use toolkits to make tools available to an Agent. The Custom Toolkits ability attaches selected tools to a Workflow or Task; it does not create or host an external MCP server.

Connect an existing MCP server

In App Connections, install MCP Server and enter the URL and authentication details for a server that is already available. Gravity Rail discovers that server's tools after connection. For EHR data, use an available FHIR connection when it fits; a custom MCP connection connects a separate server that your team operates.

Attach tools to a Workflow

Open the Workflow or Task and add the Custom Toolkits ability. Select the toolkits and tools the Agent needs, then save. See Custom Toolkits for the editor flow.

API reference

Use the Custom Toolkits API to create and update toolkits and inspect tool schemas, and the MCP Servers API to manage MCP server connections. The API references document the supported fields and permissions.
